On 20 March, our school hall was transformed into a vibrant stage for the EMI Drama Fest. Co-organised alongside The Association of English Medium Secondary Schools, the event brought together seven schools for an inspiring competition in the Modern Drama category.

The day began with a focused energy during the morning technical rehearsals, as students meticulously coordinated their stage movements and cues. By the afternoon, the competition was in full swing, featuring an array of impressive performances. Each production was a testament to the studentsˇ¦ creativity, exploring diverse themes with remarkable emotional depth and acting talent.

For our S.5 students in the audience, the festival offered more than entertainment. It provided a unique window into how English transcends the classroom. By witnessing these live performances, they saw firsthand how language is used as a powerful tool in the arts and drama, helping them appreciate the nuances of expression and communication in a professional context.

Behind the scenes, our English Drama Club members were the backbone of the event. Serving as MCs, student helpers, and technical crew, they managed the sound and lighting with admirable precision. This hands-on experience allowed them to develop leadership skills and a deep understanding of stagecraft. Furthermore, the expert feedback provided by the adjudicators was invaluable, giving all participants a clear sense of the professional standards and artistic vision required for the stage.

Following the overwhelmingly positive feedback from our visiting schools, we look forward to many more years of such fruitful collaboration. We are immensely proud of the dedication shown by our students and the artistic excellence that defined the day.
