This April, we had the distinct pleasure of welcoming eight students from Tsuen Wan Government Secondary School as part of our Local Exchange Program. Over the three unforgettable days from April 9th to 11th, we, the students of S.4, had the incredible opportunity to make new friends and share our school culture with our exchange buddies.
On a sunny Wednesday morning, the excitement was noticeable as our exchange buddies arrived. After a warm welcoming photo session at the main entrance, each exchange student was paired with a buddy, making sure they felt included right from the start. We guided them to our classrooms, where they experienced our regular lessons alongside us. It was interesting to see how they interacted with our teachers and engaged with the subjects we are passionate about.
Lunchtime was certainly a highlight. On the first day, we enjoyed a welcoming lunch at school, where laughter filled the dining hall. Our buddies tasted some of our favorite food while we shared stories about our lives and interests. On the second day, we ventured outside for lunch, exploring local eateries in Mong Kok and enjoying the variety of food options different districts have to offer.
As our exchange program continued, we participated in various activities aimed at strengthening our connections. We attended an English debate session, showcasing the confidence of students while we were impressed by our buddies’ perspectives and arguments. We also appreciated their insights on the subject too. One memorable event was a Chinese writing guidance session. We discussed and shared our thoughts on various topics with our teachers' assistance. It was great to see everyone’s ideas and creativity come together during the session. The following day, we engaged in a STEAM tour, where we showcased our school’s innovative projects and fostered discussions about science and technology.
As the program came to a close on the final day, we gathered once more at the main entrance to bid farewell to our new friends with souvenirs to remind them of our time together. The smiles we have and the bonds we formed over these three days will always remain in our hearts.
This exchange program was not just about attending classes; it was a celebration of shared experiences, cultural exchange, and the wonderful friendships that can blossom in such a short time. We look forward to future exchanges and the chance to welcome more new friends to Queen Elizabeth School.
