Liberal Studies Programme 2015-2016 “Healthy Living – Food and Habit”

Ten Form 4 students have joint the Liberal Studies Programme 2015-2016 “Healthy Living – Food and Habit”, held by the Hong Kong Tuberculosis, Chest and Heart Diseases Association. The two teams won the competition with bright results, and were awarded double champions among over 70 teams.

This year the theme of the Programme is “Healthy Living – Food and Habit”. It was held with the aim of arousing concerns on healthy lifestyle and dining habits among public. Each team is required to take up a research project relating to the theme, cumulate in the production of an innovative project with a proposal, abstract and written report.

The ten form 4 students have formed two teams, their enquiry topics were “低脂偽術” and “食鹽多過你食米”. The two teams investigated the issues of low-fat products and myth of sodium containment of food. In early May, the two teams submitted the project abstracts and delivered a presentation in the preliminary. On 22nd May 2016, they presented in the final competition and attended the award presentation ceremony in the Hong Kong Central Library. The two teams won the Senior Form Champions and were interviewed by local newspapers and press. Apart from winning the honourable champion, the team gained valuable experience and knowledge about how to do an independent enquiry and wished to apply what they learnt to contribute Hong Kong society.
